SALAMASINA TUITAMA SALCIDO, 1st AM SAMOA WORLD AMERICA DELEGATE

The Miss American Samoa United States (MASUS) & Miss American Samoa World America (MASWA) Organization is pleased to announce the First Miss American Samoa World America 2015 Delegate, Miss Salamasina Tuitama Salcido.

 

Salamasina will be representing the U.S. Territory of American Samoa at the Miss World America National Beauty Pageant Contest in Washington, DC, from June 29 - July 3, during the Independence Week Celebration.

 

Salamasina officially received her title and crown June 10. She will be competing against 51 other states and territories contestants for the title Miss World America, the official preliminary to Miss World, "Beauty With a Purpose."

 

Salamasina is the daughter of Angel and Salamasina Tuitama Fesagaiga Salcido of Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born in Oxnard,California; and the eldest of her three siblings. She is 20 years old.

 

Salamasina grew up in a very talented and musical family. At a young age of three, she danced for her grandmother's dance troupe, Tina's Port of Paradise, based at Oxnard, CA.

 

In 2006, Salamasina's family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Her mother wanted her daughter to continue learning and participating in Polynesian Culture activities. She enrolled her in various Polynesian Cultural Programs to learn music, dance and culture.

 

At age 13, Salamasina began dancing for Hot Lava under the direction of Runi Tafeaga. And at age 14, she started dancing professionally for Hot Lava, performing at Hotels Casino Resorts throughout Las Vegas and other cities in Nevada. She danced for the Cirque de Polynesia at Santa Cruz, Boardwalk in CA. She also toured with the Royal Canadian Cruise as a performer throughout Hawaiian Island and Tahiti.

 

Salamasina is proud to say that she was nurtured and groomed by her loving parents, grandparents and other members of the family, who taught her true values in life. "I was taught at early age the importance of chores, a healthy work ethics and gentle discipline."

 

Salamasina is the manager for the Polynesian Entertainment Production, Hot Lava Headliner, a Dinner Hula Show for Treasure Island Casino "Island Heat." She also serves as instructor & choreographer for Tevakanui Dance Company. And a promo model for various companies in Las Vegas, NV.

 

She enjoys being around her grandmother, Kilisitina Alofa Tuitama'alelagi  Savea Moe Vainuku of Mapusaga Fou, American Samoa, grandfather Sione Mapakaitolo Vainuku of Matahau, Tonga and her father, Angel who is Mexican from Southern, CA.

 

Salamasina is proud to say "My great grandfather Taavili Tui Tamalelagi gave me the name Salamasina. The name comes by way of Queen Salamasina who reigned in Samoa and she honors the name and strives to live a lifestyle, reflective of Queen Salamasina.

 

The work of Miss World is centered on it's international charity. The program allows each Miss World, directors, and national representatives to make a mark on community services across the globe.

 

Seeing the plight of Veterans on the streets of America, Salamasina has decided to chose the US Military, disabled veterans, their families and all men and women in Military Service for America, as her platform to promote and support as a goodwill ambassador Miss World America.

 

Salamasina says, "I have uncles, aunties, cousins and other closed relatives who have served and others are still serving in the Military Service for America.They fight so we can all live in this beautiful land of the Free."

 

As we may all be reminded of President Theodore Roosevelt's Second Inaugural Address: "Freedom of Speech; Freedom of Worship; Freedom from Want and Freedom from Fear."

 

On Monday, June 29, 2015, Salamasina will be delivering her Platform Speech, and live interview at the Washington Plaza Hotel, in Washington, DC, at 8:00pm EST.

52 of the Nation's most talented and beautiful women will walk together celebrating "Beauty With a Purpose." One woman will be selected to represent the United States of America at the 65th Annual Miss World, the oldest, largest and most prestigious international pageant.

 

The next Miss World International Pageant will be held in Sanya, China, December 19, 2015.
