SPORTS SHORTS

The American Samoa High School Athletic Association (ASHSAA) continues to roll during this 2014-2015 ASHSAA Sports year with exciting sports action.

GIRLS SOFTBALL

The defending girls softball champion Fa’asao Marist Cougars will be heading back to the championship finals. Last Saturday February 21 at the Tony Solaita Field, the #1 seeded Cougars faced off against the #4 seeded Leone Lions in the playoffs to see who would advance to the finals.

The Cougars were able to pull out the victory by putting a stop to the valiant effort by Lions, as they downed the Lions by a score of 20-8 to advance to the finals.

In the other playoff game on Saturday, it was the #2 seeded Tafuna Warriors who took the win narrowly over the #3 seeded Samoana Sharks in a close battle between these two rival teams. The Warriors squeaked by the Sharks by a score of 10-9 to advance to the finals.

This coming Saturday February 28 with a scheduled starting time of 9:00 a.m. at the Tony Solaita Field, it will be the #1 seeded and defending champion Cougars taking on the #2 seeded Warriors for the 2014-2015 ASHSAA Girls Softball Championship title. ASHSAA invites the public out to this game in support of our athletes.
