Children got free dental screenings from dentists at the Department of Health booth, during Saturday’s Department of Education-sponsored Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) festival, just one of many booths set up at the Samoana High School field.

Students along with parents were also given information of the types of services and jobs within DOH.

Some 20 government agencies, private businesses and community partners set up booths displaying the types of services they offered as well as activities that engaged children interest of all ages.

Two weeks ago, Education director Vaitinasa Dr. Salu Hunkin-Finau called for the “need for education and our community to emphasize teaching and learning Science, Technology, Engineering, Math plus arts and agriculture”.
