Charges to be finalized in Samoa editor case

The Samoa government newspaper editor, Tupuola Terry Tavita, did not enter a plea when he appeared in the Supreme Court this week.The Chief Justice, Patu Falefatu Sapolu, has accepted an adjournment to allow the prosecution to finalize charges against the suspended editor.Tupuola Terry Tavita is facing a charge of attempted rape.He is remanded on bail which includes reporting to police in Apia every week, surrendering his travel documents and passport as well as not contacting the victim.Police last week said there is a possibility more criminal charges will be laid.The case will be heard again next Monday.The accused's case was the first to be called in the long list of criminal cases heard for mention at the start of this year's court proceedings.
