ASHSAA roundup for 2014

With the Department of Education (DOE) off for the Holiday Season, so is the American Samoa High School Athletic Association (ASHSAA) sporting events. The next DOE ASHSAA sport that will be played is girls basketball.

There was no clear cut winner in the ASHSAA Girls Varsity Basketball Division, due to the season being forced to end early because of the outbreak of Pink Eye. The Tafuna Warriors however, were on top in the standings of the Varsity Division with an undefeated record, with the Samoana Sharks right behind them with only one loss — that was to the Warriors.

In the Junior Varsity Division, the Fa’asao Marist Cougars will be going into this season as the defending champions.

At this time, the Big Red team from the East Side, the Faga’itua Vikings lead with the most ASHSAA championship titles earned so far. The Vikings are followed by the Warriors who have the second most, while the Leone Lions round out the top three.

ASHSAA continues to invite the public out to the rest of the 2014- 2015 sports season, in support of its athletes and sports.
