Looming trough will bring more rain

The trough hanging around the Samoan islands will bring rain and unstable weather conditions all the way through next week.

This is according to local meteorologist Elinor Lutu-McMoore yesterday afternoon.

As of press time, a small craft advisory and high surf advisory were in effect due to ‘hazardous sea’ conditions, as a large south swell was expected to arrive last night.

“It will peak Wednesday night and into Thursday morning,” Lutu-McMoore said, adding that the trough is too close to the Samoan Islands to say for sure when the rain will stop completely, although there will be some breaks — short time periods when there won’t be any rain at all.

The good news: No hurricane or tropical cyclone at this time, Lutu-McMoore concluded.
