PanSa are champions of the women’s President’s Cup

PanSa defeated Utulei Youth 1-0 to win the women’s President’s Cup One-Day, 7-A-Side tournament on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Pago Park Soccer Stadium.

Six teams registered for the tournament with Pool A comprising of Utulei Youth, Ilaoa & To’omata and Green Bay.

Pool B consisted of PanSa, Lion Heart and Pago Youth.

Unfortunately Ilaoa & To’omata and Pago Youth did not compete on that day.

In the playoffs, Utulei took on Lion Heart and won 2-1 while PanSa beat Green Bay 3-0 to reach the final.

Lion Heart won the match for 3rd place after both teams finished the match 1-1 in regulation.  The game went to a shootout with Lion Heart beating Green Bay 8-7 in the shootout.

In the final, PanSa scored in the first half and then held on in the second for the win.

“It is a great win for us because we lost to Utulei Youth in the National league and they went on to win that competition,” explained Sandra Fruean, President of the PanSa club.  “I believe this is a good thing, having separate champions for these two competitions.

“Hats off to Rev. Ioane Evagelia and his club Utulei Youth for a well fought final because it was a very tense one. Utulei had some chances there where they could have tied but thanks to our girls they persevered and defended right to the end.”

This marks the end of women’s soccer in all age groups for the year 2014 with PanSa winning the President’s Cup and Utulei Youth champions of the National League.

2015 kicks off with the ASHSAA Girls 2014-2015 competition in January.\\
