For all of you volleyball fans out there, you are in luck. The biggest volleyball tournament is just around the corner, as the American Samoa Volleyball Association (ASVBA) is making its final adjustments and getting set for this year’s American Samoa Moso’oi Week International Volleyball Tournament, with the games to begin this coming Saturday morning at the Kanana Fou High School gymnasium.

But before the games commence, there will be a ‘technical’ meeting tomorrow for all interested and participating teams. The meeting will be taking place at Valasi Gaisoa’s Guest House. The ASVBA also stated that you must contact Josie Afu Muasau as soon as possible at 252-7064 if you have a team.

At this time the ASVBA says that they have 15 local teams in the Men’s Open, seven Men’s 19 & Under teams, six women’s teams in the Women’s Open and seven teams in the Queens Division. Our sister islands of Samoa will also have teams participating in the tournament. Samoa will be sending five Men’s teams, 1 Queens team, 2 Women’s teams and 1 Men’s 19 & Under team for a total of nine teams.

Some of the successful local teams who will be competing are, Side Out 2, Annex, Fetuao, Fa’atamali’i, Mizuno, Aunu’u Boys and the Ali’i Boys.

The ASVBA invites everyone out to this year’s, ASVBA American Samoa Moso’oi Week International Volleyball Tournament, whose opening games will be this coming Saturday morning at the Kanana Fou High School gymnasium.

The ASVBA also said that they are searching for any off-island beach volleyball pair players who are of Samoan descent, who want to compete and represent American Samoa in a big upcoming tournament that will be taking place in Australia this coming November 12-16.  Please contact Josie as soon as possible regarding any of the above items at:  josiemuasau@gmail.com for more information.
