Fiji-bred sheep sent to Samoa and Tonga

The Ministry of Agriculture has organized the first shipment of Fiji-bred sheep to our Pacific neighbors, Samoa and Tonga.THE Ministry’s Director for Animal Health and Production, Tomasi Tunabuna said this is the first of its kind to export a hundred breeding female sheep from the Private Multiplication Centre in Vanua Levu, ever since its setup six years ago.Tunabuna added in 2004, the Ministry managed to export 40 breeding ewes and four rams to Samoa.In 2005 they were able to ship four breeding rams and 40 breeding ewes to Tonga.For this new shipment a total of 110 sheep were sent on the request from the Government of Samoa.
