Samoan Korean Baptist Church Football Club plays in Apia

The Samoan Korean Baptist Church Football Club is currently in Apia, Samoa, where they played their first game Tuesday, Oct. 7 (Samoa Time) in the Club Championship Games. They are representing American Samoa in the tournament.

The group arrived in Samoa last Friday, and the official result of their first game against the Cook Islands yesterday was unavailable as of press time.

Their next game will be played Thursday (Samoa Time) against Tonga and the third and final game is scheduled for this Saturday (Samoa time) against the Samoa team.

Acting team president Raynel Krishna told Samoa News that a total of 25 players and chaperones make up the territory’s delegation and they are looking forward to the tournament.

Included as a chaperone is SFC Miguel Diaz, who is the head of the local US Army Recruiting Station.

Samoa News was able to catch up with the team and chaperones, when the group attended the Sunday buffet toana’i at the Orator Hotel, via special invite from the owners Leiataualesa Taii Jerry Brunt, who is also the Korean special envoy in Samoa, and his wife Fia’ailetoa Charlotte Chan Mow Brunt. The couple hosted the luncheon.

Samoa News wishes the Samoan Korean Baptist Church (SKBC) team the best.
