Atu’u holds on to Cup, Ilaoa tops division at end of 1st round-robin

The Atu’u Broncos held on to the men’s Division 2, FFAS National Cup with a 6-0 win over Green Bay while Ilaoa & To’omata closes out the first round-robin at the No. 1 spot.

 

They beat Black Roses 3-0 while Vaitogi United won by forfeit over Vaiala Tongan B.

 

The second round kicks off this Saturday with Black Roses taking on Atu’u in a Cup challenge match while Ilaoa & To’omata faces off against Tongan B and Green Bay takes on Vaitogi.

 

ATU’U BRONCOS 6, GREEN BAY 0

 

Atu’u scored three goals in each half to beat Green Bay 6-0 in the last FFAS National Cup challenge match of the first round-robin.

 

The Broncos won the Cup during the second week of the competition and have held it ever since, winning two out of three challenges and drawing the third one with Ilaoa & To’omata.

 

Six players scored for Atu’u against Green Bay — Malala Iose, Desmond Tupai, Livi Afano, Mikaele Nansen, Filisi Filisi and Johnny Sione.

 

ILAOA & TO’OMATA 3, BLACK ROSES 0

 

Paia Ipiniu scored twice for Ilaoa & To’omata in a tough match against Black Roses.

 

By the end of the first half the score was 1-0 before Ipiniu scored his second goal in the 61st minute.

 

Aliva Nautu scored 12 minutes later to put the game out of reach.
