Skin Diving, another water safety class by ASAA

Tanu Peleti and Stephanie Floor proudly hold up their Skin Diving certificates and cards which they received last Saturday after completing a two-day Skin Diving course taught by the American Samoa Aquatics Agency (ASAA) at Gataivai Beach.

The pair, along with seven members of the ASAA, earned their certificates by learning how to clear the dive mask underwater, snorkel blast and snorkel displacement, putting on fins (full body and straps), diving posture (pike dive), arm posture, body posture and equipment recognition, along with water safety.

This Skin Diving course was the first of its kind conducted here in American Samoa according to the ASAA.

The ASAA is also continuing its 33-hour Lifeguard training course for its members, where they are currently learning Deep Water Back-boarding. The ASAA wishes to let any groups or individuals know that if they are looking to get certified in Skin Diving, Life-guarding, or wish to take swimming and water safety lessons, to call 733-1224, 731-3013, or email ASAA at asaquaticagency@yahoo.com.

You can also visit the ASAA Facebook page at: American Samoa Aquatics Agency-ASAA for more information. Their website will soon be up.
