The crews of the Hokule’a and Hikianalia canoes were given a traditional send off Saturday by His Highness the Head of State, His Highness, Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi, and the Masiofo, Her Highness, Filifilia Tamasese.His Highness Tui Atua who is also the Patron of Samoa Voyaging Society, Aiga Folau O Samoa, held the farewell at his residence in Tuaefu where he presented traditional gifts to the crews.The two double hulled alia, or traditional canoes are both from Hawai’i.
