Samoa Prime Minister takes on role of Minister of Legislative Assembly

Samoa’s Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi has taken over as the Minister of the Legislative Assembly.The portfolio had been held by Deputy Prime Minister, Fonotoe Pierre Lauofo since the General Election last year.The change was confirmed by Tuilaepa in an interview with the Samoa Observer.It means the Prime Minister is now leading two of the three branches of government, the Executive and the Legislature.The Judiciary remains with the Minister of Justice, Fiame Naomi Mata’afa.Tuilaepa says he took the portifolio from Fonotoe as the deputy prime minister has a heavy workload.
