Talanted Samoan on the big screen with The Rock

Another young Samoan is looking to make it to the big time on the big screen. Twenty- two-year-old Francis Manoa Sefo from the villages of Aoa, Sa’ilele and Leone and a 2009 graduate of Faga’itua High School now living in Los Angeles, wanted to share with his family and friends back in American Samoa, about the role he has landed as a background actor in the new upcoming movie, "San Andreas", starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

Principal photography for the film began this past April 22 in Australia and wrapped up on July 27 in San Francisco. Warner Bros. will be releasing the film worldwide in June, 2015.

Sefo said to Samoa News in an email interview that this is not his first time working as a background actor, as he also worked in "Generation Brazil", a Brazilian Television show.

He has also been in a Bollywood Movie (Bollywood is the Hindi-language movie industry based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India).

In his quest to be seen on the big screen, Sefo is also a commercial dancer and model based in the United States.

“I have a professional modeling/dance portfolio/acting on Casting Network based in Los Angeles that covers the whole state of California,” he said to Samoa News via email. He said that since he has been involved in the entertainment industry business, BBC Casting Network contacted him right away and asked if he wanted to be an actor in the San Andreas film.

“This is not the first time," he noted. "I've done a lot and I did it all by myself. I have another upcoming modeling gig and it is a runway fashion show in the Bay Area."

He ended by saying, “I want to give a shout out to my Manoa family in Aoa and my Togiola family in Sa’ilele and Leone. A shout out also goes to the Faga’itua High School Class of 2009."

He said he also wanted to give a shout out to his best friend Paul Iloilo Ieti and to his Uncle Kenny Valoia ‘aka’ Big Ken. “To all my people back home, ‘One Love' — be safe and God Bless,” he said.

He added that while growing up in American Samoa, he was raised by three loving ladies — his grandmother Petimara Manoa (RIP), his mother Octavia Litia Meli and his aunt Fa’aafo’i Fa’au’uga Valoia.
