Tina Drabble foundation donates to Jr Golfers

On Tuesday, July 8, the Tina Drabble Junior Golf Foundation gave a donation of $3,000 to the Junior Golf Association of American Samoa, as the Jr. Golfers prepare for their trip to San Diego for the Calloway Golf Junior World Tournament scheduled later this month.

Foundation members Tom Drabble, Sandra King Young and Christinna Lutu Sanchez were on hand to deliver the money to Jr. Golf Association representative, John Mitchell (far left). Mitchell, a volunteer coach with the Junior Golfers for many years now, said the Association is deeply grateful for the funds, as the San Diego tournament is an expensive one, but due to the actions of professional golf instructor Fuga Tolani Teleso, American Samoa has been given a few slots in order to participate each year.

Standing on the chair next to Mitchell is Junior Golfer Regan Duffy, who will compete in the San Diego tournament. Seven year old Regan is the son of Craig Duffy of Oxford Insurance, and a young man who “loves math— and golf”. He is a student at Pacific Horizons School, and will participate in the 7 and Under division of the tournament.

According to board member Sandra King Young, the Tina Drabble Junior Golf Foundation also secured 20 new golf bags and clubs for the Junior Golfers, whose program will begin again in September this year.

This Saturday, July 12, will see the 2nd Annual Memorial Golf Tournament held for the Tina Drabble Junior Golf Foundation.
