No damage or tsunami generated from two quakes today

Two earthquakes occurred in the Samoa region today (Sunday in American Samoa), with the last one at just before 6:30a.m, according to federal officials, who also say no tsunami was generated.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says both quakes measured at 6.8, with the first quake occurring just after 4a.m.

The Center issued an information only bulletin about the two quakes, saying that no destructive widespread tsunami threat exists based on historical earthquake and tsunami data.

The second quake, which two local residents say they felt as a short jolt, was located 327 miles west of Tafuna. There have been no reports of damage from either of today’s two quakes.
