DYWA has big plans for Youth Month in July

The Department of Youth and Women’s Affairs (DYWA) is busy getting everything squared away for their biggest celebration of the year - Youth Month - which will be celebrated next month.

DYWA Deputy Director Tapumanaia Galu Satele Jr. told Samoa News yesterday that their office is still in the midst of finalizing a program of activities for July, specifically July 4 which not only marks Independence Day but also Youth Day in American Samoa.

Tapumanaia said Youth Day will kick off with a parade, to be followed by other activities that may include a singing competition. The event will culminate with a spectacular fireworks show that will be open to everyone at the Suigaula ole Atuvasa Beach Park in Utulei.

He said the theme of this year’s Youth Day will center around the “International Youth,” to celebrate the many different ethnic cultures currently present in the territory.
