FINAL JUDGING TODAY FOR ISLAND WIDE ELEMENTARY HISTORY DAY COMPETITION

The first day of the Island-Wide History Day competition took place yesterday for grades 6-8 at the Lumana’i Building 2nd Floor with Elementary School students from public and private Elementary schools. This year’s theme is ‘Right and Responsibilities in History’. Students were asked to examine how these subjects have shaped the course of history, especially with our very own local history.

Today with a scheduled starting time of 8:00 a.m. at the Governor H. Rex Auditorium, the final judging will be taking place with the award giving. The American Samoa Humanities Council, the local affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Samoa Department of Education has sponsored this local competition every year since 2003.
