ASHSAA girls soccer update

No. 1 Samoana Sharks and No. 2 Fa’asao-Marist Cougars played to a thrilling 1-1 tie on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at Pago Park Soccer Stadium.

Vaiula Afa scored in the fifth minute of the match but a handball in the box against the Sharks 12 minutes into the second half saw the Cougars equalize on the penalty kick.

JJ Sasala notched in the equalizer and both teams were unable to provide a winning goal.

In the only other game played, the Vikings edged the Lions 2-1 to create another shift in the top four standings.

The Wildcats lead the Lions in the differential in goals tiebreaker.
