NHHC partner to plead guilty in federal court

Quin Ngoc Rudin — one of the partners in the Native Hawaiian Holding Company, which is currently in a dispute with ASG over funds awarded to the organization under the National Emergency Grant program — is expected to plead guilty in federal court during a court hearing set for next month, according to court documents.

Rudin, aka Dean Rubin, aka David Rubin, is charged with wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. He remains in federal custody and his case is being heard at the federal court in San Francisco.

Rudin’s change of plea and status conference hearings have been continued since last summer; and then last December, the defendant sought another continuance, saying he was seeking a new attorney.

However, court documents filed last week state that Rudin no longer wants to change his attorney and “he wishes to enter pleas of guilty to the charges in the Indictment.” Additionally, the prosecutor has no objection to the change of plea.

A federal indictment early last year alleged Rudin defrauded Cisco Systems Inc. and its subsidiary Cisco Systems Capital Corporation and Altura Pharmaceuticals, Inc. — through his own company called CGC Digital.

Rudin is now scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 4 to plead guilty to the charges, according to the court documents, which further state that parties in this case will be conducting additional plea negotiations, as well as the government’s continued investigation into this case.
