Lima pleads not guilty

Former Manu Samoa coach, Muliagatele Brian Lima pleaded not guilty to seven charges against him before the Supreme Court yesterday.Represented by lawyer, Ruby Drake, Muliagatele entered a not guilty plea before Chief Justice, His Honour Patu Tiava’asu’e Falefatu Sapolu. The charges against Muliagatele stem from an alleged incident against his former wife, Lemalu Sina Retzlaff, at a local bar in December 2013.Lima faces two charges of grievous bodily harm, two of actual bodily harm, one of using threatening words, one of being armed with a dangerous weapon and one of throwing an object.The matter has been adjourned to the week starting 21 April for hearing.Lima is out on bail.Attempts by the media to get a photo of Lima were unsuccessful.Since the matter has been before the Supreme Court, Lima has been escorted to the courtroom using the passage usually only used for prisoners held in custody.Yesterday, he was escorted to the courtroom through the same way.
