Three men face murder charges in Samoa

Three men have been charged with murder in relation to the death of a man whose body was found in his vehicle at Vaitele, last year.The charges follow an extensive Police investigation, which led to their arrest earlier this month.Acting Police Commissioner, Misa Tala’imanu Keti told the Weekend Observer that the investigation was launched following the discovery of the body of Uili Neil Seiuli.The 35-year-old was found in his vehicle opposite the Tausala Bar on 16 November 2013.He said the three men allegedly involved in the crime were drinking with him prior to his death.“The three men were charged on 10 January for his murder,” Misa said.The defendants are a 19-year-old from Vaiusu-uta and Saina, a 23-year-old man from Saina and Faiaai and the third a 25-year-old from Vaitele-tai and Samauga, said Misa.“All men are in Police custody to await their appearance in the Supreme Court on February 10 in relation to the deceased’s death,” he said. “The man’s death is purely alcohol related.”He didn’t elaborate about how the man was killed.Misa said the arrests were a result of a joint effort from police stationed at three different Police outposts.He stressed the importance of having three qualified detectives stationed at the different Police outposts in the villages to attend to such matters.
