2nd Youth Rally, this time in Fagasa

While the majority of the territory’s residents were out and about shopping and sitting in traffic trying to beat the heat during the week preceding Christmas 2013, the young and old of Fagasa village were busy fellowshipping during the first ever Fagasa Village Youth Rally which took place Dec. 21-23.

More than 500 people of different ages took part in the Rally that was initiated by the ministers of the CCCAS, Catholic, and Assembly of God Churches of Fagasa.

Even Ituau Malosi faipule Rep. Taotasi Archie Soliai was involved, along with village elders and chiefs. “An event like this was long overdue,” said Taotasi, adding that the feedback has been positive and their hope is to host events like this more often.

The major sponsor of the Rally was the DPS Office of Highway Safety, which also played a major role in the Pago Pago Youth Rally last summer.

The Fagasa Rally kicked off with a parade, followed by the official opening. Participants had fun taking part in zumba sessions and other fun games and activities.

Different government departments and agencies were on hand to give presentations and short lectures aimed at helping kids choose the right path and make good decisions in life.

They included: DHSS, DYWA, DOH, OHS, DHS, ASEPA, DOA, and the American Samoa Alliance Against Domestic and Sexual Violence.

The three-day event culminated with a combined church service where youngsters from Fagasa’s different religious denominations presented their Christmas program performances that included religious songs, dances, and Biblical skits.
