Boxers set to go to Apia meet

Long time boxing training/coach Toleafoa Henry Tavake  will be taking some of his boxers to compete in a Pro/Am boxing card next week in Apia, Samoa. Two of the fighters will include his professionals— ‘Bad News’ Henry Wells and the ‘Heat Man’ Alapati Aasa.

Toleafoa who has over 30 years experience in training and coaching boxing, said that he does want to rush his professionals and is taking his time with them, making sure that they are ready each time they move up the professional ladder.

“There are a lot of good fighters out there and I have to make sure my by boys are ready each time,” said Toleafoa.

Wells and Aasa last fought right here in the territory this past September in a Pro/Am card that was held at the Veterans Memorial Stadium.

In September, Wells defeated longtime veteran of the ring Gogosina Ulutoa of Samoa in a unanimous decision win in their four-round fight. Aasa won his bout via knockout in the first round in a scheduled six round bout over Sigapoa Asiata, also of Samoa.
