Schools celebrate Thanksgiving with programs and parades

All over the territory, on Wednesday, it was all fun and laughter as parents and spectators got an early Thanksgiving treat watching the young ones perform and begin to enjoy the holiday that offers special thanks to the Lord, and each other for another year of blessings — aplenty.

Heading west across the island, Aua Elementary School joined the rest of the student body in putting on a spectacular show for parents, teachers, friends and relatives who were at the school campus to witness a fantastic Thanksgiving Day Program this past Wednesday.

Marist St. Francis students held their Samoan Day with students being divided into three groups: Tutuila, Aunuu, and Manu’a. The youngsters dazzled the crowd with traditional Samoan memory verses and other cultural practices like the siva.

Lovely taupous graced the school parking lot, which served as a stage for the celebration.

Heading west past the town area, Samoana High School students participated in a short parade with teachers leading the way dressed up as ‘turkeys’, while Matafao Elementary School students held marvelous performances themselves.
