In Apia four convicts escape, one caught

Four prisoners escaped from police by climbing over a fence and running off on Monday afternoon, including one man with “true story” tattooed on his chest.Police are urging members of the public to work together with them in locating the whereabouts of three escaped prisoners from Tafaigata.One prisoner was recaptured Monday night. Spokesperson for the Ministry Fauono Talalelei Tapu said that all three men are highly dangerous and should not be approached by members of the public.Police are on a 24-hour watch for the three dangerous men who escaped from Tafaigata’s ‘pa sima’.“Do not approach, attempt to converse with them, but contact us if these men are seen,” he said.The Assistant Police Commissioner said the men were kept in separate confinement, for reasons he could not give.They escaped when they were let out for a little while to stretch and get something to drink.When asked how it was possible for the men to have escaped while under Police watch “they climbed over the fence” said Fauono.“Police were doing work next to where the prisoners were taking some time out of confinement when they escaped.”According to a source the four prisoners escaped together but one, Lua Leasuasu, was soon caught and returned to custody.Another police source said one of the men had escaped as early as last Friday.
