Our Islands, Our Resources, Our Life

Today will be the final day of weeklong activities that began on Monday themed “Our Islands, Our Resources, Our Life.”

According to Maria Vaofanua of DMWR, the week long activities included a photo contest, as well as a song writing competition that will be held today. The week also included nature walks, bird and bat watches as well as the marine debris registration, which will be judged today.

From noon to 6 p.m. there will be a fair at the DMWR marina in Fagatogo where winners from the different competitions will be announced, and a mini seafood festival with seafood for sale, as well as a special awards assembly will happen.

Yesterday the Department of Marine and Wildlife Resources (DMWR) sponsored outrigger canoe races took to the water and proclaimed it, “Paddles Up 2013!”

Interagency teams from DOC, DOE, National Park, AS/EPA, ASPA, Immigration, Public Works, DMWR and Human Resources took to the water.
