Samoa Deputy PM denies interfering with police, or being served

Samoa’s Deputy Prime Minister says he denies any wrongdoing in an incident investigated by police and says he has not been served any charges.Speaking in Auckland, Fonotoe Nuafesili Pierre Lauofo, says he did not instruct his associate minister Muagututagata Peter Ah Him to drive away from police last month when they were attempting to take a breath test. The police filed a report and last week the Minister of Police and Prisons, Sala Fata Pinati, confirmed to our correspondent that police would charge the ministers. However, Fonotoe says he has not been approached by police and he denies the accusations. “What the police said speaks for itself, they carried out the tests, three, four times. So you know, had I interfered with their work, I would have stopped the breathalyser tests. But they completed their four, or three tests without interference from me.”Fonotoe Nuafesili Pierre Lauofo.
