ASVBA’s 2013 Club Volleyball Championships end on high note

In this year’s American Samoa Volleyball Association (ASVBA) 2013 Club Volleyball Championships Women’s Division, Team Osana won the Open Women’s Division last Saturday when they defeated Team ASCC in three sets, 10-17, 17-16 and 17-15. The American Samoa Volleyball Association (ASVBA) concluded its 2013 Club Volleyball Championships this past Saturday at the Kanana Fou High School gymnasium with over 15 different volleyball clubs from around the island competing during the finals.
There were a total of 37 teams competing this year in five different divisions; 13 and under (4 teams), 16 and under (5 teams), 19 and under (8 teams), Women’s Open (8 teams) and Men’s Open (12 teams).
Teams included: Kokoland Youth, Taumafai Boys and Girls, All-Sports, (all divisions), Osana (all divisions), Sea Breeze, Alofau XTreme, Snow Spikers (all divisions), Polynesian Beat, ASCC Boys and Girls, Swaggers Girls, Annex Boys, Side-Out Boys, It doesn’t Matter, United Brothers, Sea Breeze and Fetuao.
Teams battled it out in finals resulting in Division Champions with Most Valuable Player awards, while Team Osana was named the Club of the Year and Coach Laauli Mase of Osana earned the Coach of the Year Award.
13 and Under Division
Team Osana of Nu’uuli claimed this year’s Club Championship title in two straight sets last Saturday against All-Sports; 17-15 and 17-12. Most Valuable Player-Laauli Mase of Team Osana.
16 and Under Division
Osana and All-Sports battled it out with Osana taking the match in three sets in a hard fought game; 17-15, 12-17 and 15-13. Most Valuable Player-Vitolio Vitolio of Osana.
19 and Under Division
Side-Out Boys edged out Annex of Malaloa in three sets; 17-15, 15-17 and 15-10. Most Valuable Player-Donosky of the Side-Out Boys.
Women’s Open
The Osana Girls defeated ASCC in three sets; 10-17, 17-16 and 17-15. Most Valuable Player-Aiga Faasavalu Sineti of the Osana Girls.
Men’s Open
Team Fetuao claimed this year’s Men’s Open Club Championship title in three hard hitting sets against the Annex Boys of Leloaloa; 17-14, 11-17 and 15-13. Most Valuable Player-Tolutasi Sineti and Ali Tupou of Fetuao.
