Biz Beat: Oasis now serving fab breakfasts

Experts say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day; and if you're looking for a place that offers a scrumptious selection that's sure to get your day started off right, look no further than the Oasis Bar & Restaurant inside the former Bowling Alley in Tafuna.

Long known as a popular hotspot for bar hoppers and party animals, the Oasis is now serving breakfast beginning at 6a.m., lunch from 11a.m. - 2p.m. and fine dining 5p.m.-10p.m. —Monday through Saturday.

And it’s not just Korean dishes — although the menu does offer up such local Korean favorites like beef kalbi and a wonderful array of kim chee — but that’s for lunch if you want or dinner.

For the breakfast menu however, and Samoa News testifies to its quality — there are a variety of mouthwatering dishes that guarantee a second, third, and fourth visit.

Firing up the grill is self taught local chef Sione Ufi (who is also the nighttime bartender) and his kitchen helper Percy Acuna, who works under head chef Daniel Peneueta Vili of Pago Pago. Vili is a graduate of the American Samoa Culinary Academy.

Upon entrance, the Oasis offers privacy booths — they’re tables divided with Japanese tri-fold ‘Shogi’ screens offering quiet conversation for diners. The decor is obviously set up for night lites — but the Shogi screens give you the space you want to enjoy your meal, whether breakfast, lunch or dinner — or what about, just drinks & pupus after work?

(They serve one of the best ‘poke’ on island, with freshly made ulu chips.)

Back to breakfast.

The dishes are served in portions that will satisfy the biggest of Samoan appetites.

Choose from grilled fish and eggs, banana pecan pancakes, steak and eggs, and the newly introduced breakfast burrito wrapped in a warm tortilla with rice, eggs and melted cheese. There is also a breakfast roll, which looks like a regular omelet but stuffed with delicious ingredients including seaweed and rice..."MMMMM!"

The corned beef hash (made with real corned beef brisket cubes tenderized to perfection) is highly recommended.

With large portions, delicious flavors, and affordable prices, it's no wonder we’re raving.

The new breakfast menu at the Oasis Bar and Restaurant at the Bowling Alley is a definite date to make!

In addition to breakfast and lunch, the Oasis also offers fine dining, with a Pacific Rim menu and many delicious Korean specialties Monday-Saturday from 5p.m- 10p.m.
