ASG takes up the slack for services lacking in Manu’a
The Treasury Department has dispatched four staffers to the Manu’a island group to disburse payroll for executive branch workforce there and also to help cash their paychecks since there is no financial institution in the island group.
Tomorrow, Monday, is the ASG payday and the Treasury staff will be at the EOB offices on Ofu and Ta’u islands.
ASG Treasury Dr. Falema’o ‘Phil’ M. Pili told Samoa News that there were are now some 200 ASG workers in Manu’a and four staff from his department have been dispatched to the island group to help cash employees pay checks, instead of workers depending on stores in Manu’a or flying to Tutuila.
Pili says semi autonomous entities of ASG such as the American Samoa Power Authority and the American Samoa TeleCommunications Authority with offices in Manu’a have been informed that they also need to do the same for their workers based in Manu’a.
Meanwhile, Pili announced on KVZK-TV last Friday that the EOB office in Manu’a will also sell the $5 or $10 gasoline vouchers to the general public for use at the ASG gas station, which opened in July this year.
