Leone A's are Little League champs

The champions for this summer’s American Samoa Baseball Association Little League summer program are the Leone A’s who took the championship titles for both the Major and Minor League Divisions. Their Minor League team also took the championship title in this summer’s Department of Parks and Recreation Boys and Girls summer softball program, while the Major League team finished out in third place.

Last Saturday, they had their team award ceremony at the Faga’alu Park with players receiving medals, trophies, awards and shirts. “These kids worked very hard from the very beginning. We worked hard for our championships. Today was our celebration because this is all about the children,” said A’s coach Melissa Coulter. “I always said to the players, it’s not about winning or losing, but how you play the game and having fun,” she said.

Two of their players, Otto Tautua (Major League Division) and Joshua Lam-Sam (Minor League Division) were named game MVPs during their July 4th Little League Baseball Championship game in their divisions.
