Nominee for Chief Procurement Office set to appear before House on Friday
Gov. Lolo M. Moliga has written to House Speaker Savali Talavou Ale and Senate President Gaoteote Palaie Tofau, submitting the name of Tiaotalaga John E. Kruse as nominee for Chief Procurement Officer. He is set to appear for a confirmation hearing before the House Committee on Government Operations, chaired by Rep. Faiemealelei Anthony Allen tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
Tiaotalaga holds a Bachelors degree in mathematics from Hawaii Loa College. For the past 25 years, he has worked in the private sector, managing successful private businesses that have employed hundreds of local residents.
Since 1993, Tiaotalaga has been the president and chief executive officer of Region Pac Sales and Marketing, a company he started himself. In addition to his role there, Tiaotalaga was also the managing director and most recently, the president and CEO of FJ&P Kruse Inc. Retail and Wholesale Grocers.
“Both of these businesses have flourished under Tiaotalaga’s direction, bringing many products into our local market, and making a greater selection of quality goods available to the public,” Lolo wrote in his Jan. 28 letter to House Speaker Savali Talavou Ale.
“With sound business judgment and abundant experience managing, optimizing value and keeping operating expenses contained, we are fortunate to be able to seize upon Tiaotalaga’s talent and expertise to improve the services provided by the Office of Procurement along with its efficiency and productivity.”
Lolo concluded, “I am certain the Tiaotalaga possesses skills and abilities that will make him an excellent Chief Procurement Officer.”
