Taro tested

High-yield cross-bred taro at The Centre for Pacific Crops and Trees (CePaCT) in Fiji, where it is returned for virus testing before redistribution to Pacific communities. SPC's Valeria Saena Tuia says that nothing demonstrates the vulnerability of traditional Pacific Island food crops more than the impact of the taro leaf blight that decimated Samoa’s taro crop in 1993.
