Samoa brewer produces bottled water to help cyclone disaster relief

Samoa’s Vailima Brewery is considering a second shut down of brewing operations to produce bottled water for the Red Cross and other agencies coping with the impact of Cyclone Evan.

Marketing Manager Dennis Williams says they did a first run of 40 thousand litres of bottled water a day after the storm blew through.

“What we have done is we have taken all measures in order to ensure that the water we produce is safe drinking purified water. We have even gone as far as pasteurising it to make sure that there is nothing else in the water, for the safety of the people.”

Dennis Williams says they have been asked to do another run and are waiting until all the 5000 cases they produced in the first run are distributed.
