Airport Road work downsized to 2 lanes

Nearly two months ago the government broke ground to begin the construction of the Airport Road — for repairs and modifications. Finally, some action is taking place, which began two days ago.

The original scope of work was to build a 4-lane road, however, according to Ruben Siatu’u of the Federal Highway division of Public Works, “No, we are to construct only a two-lane road with modifications to widen it.”

Samoa News understands one of the main reasons for the adjusted scope of work was that families that would have been affected by widening the highway would not give permission for the government to use their lands.

Whitehorn Construction won the bid and Paramount Builders is their main subcontractor on this project.
