CJ Floor to represent territory in Olympic qualifier

CJ Floor’s home state of New York boasts some of the best wrestlers in the country. Now Floor, a young man with Samoan ties,  will represent American Samoa in the African/Oceania Wrestling Championship qualifiers taking place in Morocco, Africa from March 16-17 for the 2012 Olympics in London, England from July 27-August 12 2012.

“I would like to thank my dad, Carl Floor, grandma Latea Floor, the American Samoa National Olympic Committee and Ethan Lake and everyone else that helped me get this far in the world’s greatest sport,” said CJ Floor.

“Wrestling has been great for me. It is a great honor to represent American Samoa in wrestling. I will definitely do my best. I want to thank everyone for all of their prayers and thoughts. After Morocco, I will either be coming back to American Samoa, going to California or Hawaii for more training,” he said.

Floor, who competed in the 2011 World Wrestling Championships in Istanbul, Turkey late last year, was able to do so after winning a Silver in the Oceania Wrestling Championships in Australia earlier last year. Now, he is another step closer to making his dreams come true. He was able to capture a Gold at the Oceania Championships in Apia and earned a Silver in the Oceania Championships in Australia.
