New Zealand over Samoa, Day 2 Las Vegas Sevens

New Zealand overcame an early scare to beat Samoa 12-5 to top Pool A on Day 2 of the Las Vegas Sevens.

The Kiwis let slip an early try to Samoa’s Paul Perez early, lending them the lead for much of the first half.

Samoa was close to scoring their second try, but knocked the ball over the try line with New Zealand’s defence scrambling.

A late try to captain DJ Forbes put New Zealand on level pegging on half time, and Tomasi Cama then put the Kiwis in front after he chased down a long punt to score a try inches from the dead ball line.

Cama converted to give New Zealand a 12-5 lead, and eventually the win.
