Performance by the Malaeloa Methodist Youth of the Samoan legend that the proverb “Ua togi, pa tau i le ‘ave!” (“Throw, hit directly for the taking”) is derived. The contest for the chief’s daughter involved throwing a spear at a target (breadfruit) with the unsuccessful thrower killed; while the successful thrower took the prize.[photo: Leua Aiono Frost]
