Hawaiian Airlines changes Monday flight to Sunday

Beginning this Sunday, Jan. 8, Hawaiian Airlines will operate a Sunday flight instead of Monday, while still maintaining their Thursday night flight.

Asked why the airline made this change despite its earlier statement that passengers preferred not to travel on Sunday, Hawaiian spokesman Keoni Wagner told Samoa News yesterday the “change was made to accommodate fleet scheduling requirements.”

More than a year ago, the airline moved the Sunday flight, saying local travelers preferred Monday flights and the carrier was able to accommodate the change with the availability of additional aircraft in its fleet.

Meanwhile, the Honolulu-based carrier ended its third weekly flight on Wednesday which accommodated the heavy holiday traffic between Honolulu and Pago Pago over a four week period.
