“NEED SOME HELP HERE ASPA”
Hi. I’m mad, I’m angry, and I’m hurt right now. No matter how many times one calls ASPA Water, one gets no assistance. You are either lied to or you receive some ridiculous excuse. I have lived in American Samoa over 30 years now, this house, over 20. I was hired by (Utu) Abe Malae when he was Director of Public Works. I was Manager of the Architectural and Engineering Division for many years. I didn’t fall off of the Aiga Bus yesterday.
I have had good water pressure at this house for many years. A guy named Uepa, from Western Samoa, was in charge of water for at least this area. If we had a problem, we called Uepa and it was fixed in a matter of minutes. Alas, Uepa is no more, we know not why, but now we have the mighty sunken ship, “Titanic”. Since Titanic came on the scene, our water pressure has been lousy. Call ASPA, no help.
Since “Gita” our water pressure is worse. Call ASPA, still no help. Since “Gita” we have had two “2” ASPA Water Division Employees visit us and on both occasions they agreed with us, the water pressure stinks.
Some years ago, when asked, Abe, Perilini Perilini, Mike Dworsky and Pete Rorier all agreed that the average water pressure on this island was 35 psi and in the states 85 psi, of course this was when I worked for Public Works.
Now when the water pressure is good it’s around 20 to 25 psi. Of course, it fluctuates as is to be expected. If one is to flush a toilet, forget it, it’s 0 psi until the toilet tank is full and it can take 5 to 10 minutes for the tank to fill. Use the washing machine and forget it again, don’t plan on going to the bathroom or getting a drink of water for at least an hour.
If you are curious as to how I know my own “water psi”, I had to buy a gauge from off island, they don’t sell this type of gauge here. Wonder why?
Help! Help! ASPA
I haven’t asked for help in over 30 years.
