Tim and Tuika team are this week’s Chamber of Commerce forum guests

Candidate for governor Tim Jones and running mate, candidate for lieutenant governor Tuika Tuika will share this week with the Chamber of Commerce the gubernatorial team’s economic development platform.

Chamber chairman David Robinson said Saturday this will be the fifth gubernatorial team to address the business association and private sector on issues pertaining to economic development as a new administration will be taking over leadership of the territorial government come January next year.

He also said that there has been no word from the gubernatorial team of Lt. Gov. Faoa Aitofele Sunia and Taufete’e John Faumuina on whether they will address the Chamber on economic development.

The four other gubernatorial teams have already met with the Chamber.

Last Friday, the Chamber sent out an e-mail letter  to its members about the Oct. 4 general membership meeting set for 12-noon at the Tradewinds Hotel Naumati Room, where the team of “Tim and Tuika” will address the Chamber.

The Chamber e-mail letter pointed out that it is providing an unprecedented look at the territory’s future leadership.

“We all have a vested interest in who will be chosen to lead American Samoa through and out of our many current problems,” it says.

The letter encourages all members to take advantage of this meeting  to hear what the candidates have to say about the issues, and to let the candidates hear what the private sector has to say.

“The stakes have never been higher, and they will have a direct impact on YOUR business starting next January.  We hope you will take a few minutes out of your busy day to attend this important meeting, and learn more about how the candidates plan to address problems and implement future plans,” it says.
