No fatalities in Pago bus crash

A little over two weeks ago, a small aiga bus crashed at the bottom of the steep stretch heading down from the Fagasa Pass into Pago Pago village. According to sources, the mangled bus came to a stop when it hit the side of a private residence after the brakes gave out. Trees in the area, according to police sources, had prevented the bus from crashing straight into the house.

Luckily, nobody died, although all nine passengers, including the driver, were transported to the LBJ Medical Center for treatment.

Sources who were at the hospital that day stated that one of the male passengers was seen in the Emergency Room, with blood coming from his nose and ears.

Police officials report that none of the passengers suffered any life threatening injuries.

The crash occurred in an area which long time residents say has been the site of numerous accidents over the years.
