No charges yet on Samoa's smuggled whisky investigation

APIA, Samoa No charges have been laid in connection with an illegal shipment of whisky which saw Customs officers seize bottles of the liquor from shops.

 

The Police continue to investigate the shipment news of which surfaced earlier in the month.

 

Owners of businesses, including freight companies have been interviewed.

 

Asked if there was proof that a Member of Parliament and a local Chinese business are in the top list of suspects, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Fauono Talalelei Tapu did not give a direct reply.

 

“I’m not saying yes or no, but every information whether right or wrong, police follows it up,” said Assistant Commissioner Fauono.
