Nauer sentencing delayed after health issues revealed

A new filing with the federal court in Honolulu this week revealed the reason why sentencing for former Education Department bus division supervisor Gustav Nauer, is continued to next month.  Nauer pled guilty in January last year to one count of conspiracy to commit federal program bribery, in connection with his role in the school bus spare parts scheme.

His sentencing has been continued since last year, for one reason or another and earlier last month it was finally set for Mar. 5 this year, but court records two weeks ago say it has been continued to Apr. 6 with no reason given.

In a motion filed Mar. 1 and made public Mar. 5, Nauer asked for a continuation “for medical health reasons” - no details were provided. The motion was granted Monday this week by U.S. District Court Judge David Allen Ezra, who will preside over sentencing.
