Men guilty of burning former Samoa speakers house

Two untitled men from the village of Solosolo have been found guilty of burning the house of former Speaker of the House, Leuluaiali’i Leota Ituau Ale early last year.Ioane Vaipaipa, 34, and Tauali’i Lemusu, 32 were both charged with one count of arson.District Court Judge, Mata Tuatagaloa is presiding.The court heard that the men were the only people seen by witnesses on Leuluaiali’i’s land on that day.“The court is convinced and satisfied that both men were seen on the property on 17 February 2012 by witnesses,” said Tuatagaloa.“No others were seen but the two men who were seen on the property when the house was burning.”“The men are to be taken into custody until 2nd August for sentencing,” the court heard.The men pleaded not guilty to the charges.
