Three polling stations designated for special election tomorrow

Chief election officer, Uiagalelei Dr. Lealofi Uiagalelei has designated three official polling stations for tomorrow’s special election for House of Representatives District# 5, Sua#1 - comprised of Fagaitua, Amaua, Auto, Avaio, Alega, Aumi and Laulii.

According to Uiagalelei, electors in the villages of Amaua, Alega, Avaio and Auto will cast ballots at the CCCAS hall overseen by Rev. Letalitonu Tagaloa’s congregation; electors at Fagaitua will vote at the Fagaitua CCCAS church hall; and voters at Lauli’i - including Aumi and Tafananai - will cast ballots of the Lauli’i Catholic church hall.

Polling stations will be open for 12 hours starting at 6a.m. tomorrow, and Uiagalelei last Friday again reminded voters who have already registered to go to the polls and vote for their next faipule. The total number of registered voters is 635.

Certified candidates are: Fialupe Felila Fiaui Lutu; Ketesemane Meaole; Laloniu P. Maloa; Tuialofi Faalae Lauatuaa Tunupopo; Tuifagalilo P. Vele; and Uele Fale S. Uele.

The winner of the special election will fill the seat left vacant following the Sept. 1st resignation of Pulele’iite Li’amatua Tufele Jr. who is now the chief executive officer of the American Samoa TeleCommunications Authority.
