SHS Booster Club presents new football uniform, supplies, monetary gift to team

This year was a lucky year for the Samoana High School (SHS) Football team, when they received gifts from the school Booster Club last Friday before the end of this school year, which was full new football uniforms, plus monetary gifts to buy whatever they want for school.

The new uniforms for the school’s football team was bought by the Booster Club from off island with the total cost of $10,439, and through the assistance of the Governor’s Office and the Department of Youth & Women Affairs, the uniforms arrived last week.

Parents, teachers, together with the football players and the coaching staff were present during a brief ceremony at the school’s cafeteria last Friday afternoon, for the presentation from the Booster Club, which had also gathered to mark the end of the two-year terms for the Booster Club Board of Directors, under the leadership of their president, Lt. Faulalo Maiava.

The principal of SHS, Batta Siatu’u and the head coach of the SHS football team, Pati Pati Jr., accepted the new uniforms and thanked the Booster Club for their hard work.

“On behalf of SHS, I would like to thank the Booster Club for their never ending support to our school and to our football team. You’ve done a lot for our students and we want to acknowledge your hard work”, said Siatu’u.

“To our football players, thank you for your great effort this year, and for our seniors, thank you for your service, but for our parents — thank you for your great support throughout this school year, I know you have done a lot for the school and without you, we can’t do nothing”.

“Special thanks to our head coach and his coaching staff… Lastly to our football team, I urge you to continue to play and show what you have, and we’re going to improve your skills and make our football team much better next year”, concluded Siatu’u.

Pati Jr. also acknowledged the great support from parents throughout the whole football season, which made the coaching staff’s work easier during their practices and games.

“…Thank you parents for your never ending support to our teams, providing everything our players needed such as food, water and also advice to make them better. We’re hoping that our team will do better in the upcoming football season”, he said.

“As for our new football new uniforms, I can say that this is the most coolest moment for us coaches, because we’ve being using the old uniform for our team, but now we’re receiving a new uniform not only to make our team look bright but also to give them the hope to try their best in the next season, and I would like to thank our Booster Club for the beautiful gifts to end this school year for seniors and all of the players”.

Pati Jr. continued, “To our football teams, thank you for the hard work that you have done for our school and for our team. Working together with you is a blessing for us coaches, not only do you learn from us, but we also learn from you. To our seniors, we will never forget you, your support and what you have done for our team, and as you are about to leave Samoana and go our for your future, make sure you have a plan for your future — set up a plan for yourself, so that it will guide your way and control what you’re going to do in life.”

He concluded, “…Stay focused and don’t take for granted what your parent have done for you. Lastly to our parents, we apologize if we said something on the field or did anything that hurt your feelings, it’s not our intention to hurt your feelings, but we’re trying our best for our players and also our school.”

Each football players received a full new uniform that came together with a bag and  other supplies, including a monetary gift — seniors football players received a gift of $50 each, while those players in Level 11 & 10 received a gift of $30 each.

According to members of the Samoana Booster Club, the reason why they donated this new uniform to the football team, to not only say farewell to the seniors, but also to have a new uniform for the school’s football team.
