Republican Party of American Samoa holds annual Coleman Eisenhower Dinner

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On Saturday Night at DDW in Utulei, The Republican Party of American Samoa celebrated the life and legacy of the first ever appointed Samoan Governor, Peter Tali Coleman. Coleman was appointed by President Dwight Eisenhower in 1956. Chairing the event was Dr. Alo Paul Stevenson.

The late Governor Coleman’s daughter and incumbent Congresswoman for American Samoa, Aumua Amata spoke on President Eisenhower’s appointment of her father Peter Tali Coleman.

Local Republicans also elected Taulapapa William Sword as the new Chairman of the Republican Party of American Samoa. Chairman Sword gave a tribute to former Chairman Utu Abe Malae.

The Republican Party of American Samoa is also rallying around Congresswoman Amata, who has made a bid for re-election, they unanimously endorsed her candidacy earlier this year.
